newborn
Birth is birth. Regardless of the birth story, every newborn would benefit from an osteopathic treatment.
Acknowledging the algorithmic, fear-based, restrictive & one-size fits all model in our current medical paradigm for supporting women in their birth process, is allowed. Understanding the impacts this model of care has on the fetus & the newborn allows us to shift our perspective. The lack of autonomy and preservation, let alone belief, in the capacity for natural physiological function. In this acknowledgment, we allow the belief in necessity for preventative osteopathic treatment for our newborns.
Waiting until an issue arises is not preventative medicine.
Treating the newborn entails restoring their health to receive direction from their perfect blueprint. This is their birthright.
Restoring optimal neurological and fluid function.

Guidance for nurturing your growing child at the different stages of life and mothering.
“Dr. Sylvia is an expert in her field and a wonderful person. Our daughter Savannah was very apprehensive at his first appointment, but Dr. Sylvia was so kind and patient. Once Savannah was comfortable, she allowed Dr. Sylvia to do a treatment and the different was incredible in just the first few days. Savannah is being treated for a narrow palate and has an ALF and she almost immediately stop snoring so loudly. It’s been months now and we never miss an appointment. Savannah actually requests to see Dr. Sylvia whenever something feels off or hurts with her body. She hurt her back jumping off a trampoline and after one treatment she said again “Dr. Sylvia always helps me feel better”. The care and passion she has for her field, for treating her patients and her bedside manner with children is above and beyond. We are so grateful for her and recommend anyone on the fence of treatment to give her a try.”

Why your child’s tongue posture matters
Did you know that where your child’s tongue rests can affect how they breathe, grow, sleep, and even how they feel?
The tongue should naturally rest on the roof of the mouth (the palate). This simple posture helps shape your child’s face, support nasal breathing, and allow for healthy airway and brain development.
When the tongue is not in the right position, it often leads to mouth breathing—which is more than just a habit. Mouth breathing has been linked to:
Increased risk of ADHD diagnoses
Emotional dysregulation (big emotions, difficulty calming down)
Cavities and poor oral health
Frequent ear infections
Poor sleep and snoring
Narrow palate and crowded teeth
Delayed development of primitive reflexes, which are key for movement, learning, and focus
Proper tongue posture supports nasal breathing, better sleep, improved focus and mood, and more balanced facial and dental development. If your child often breathes through their mouth, snores, has trouble sleeping, or shows signs of emotional or attention challenges, it may be time for an osteopathic oral and airway evaluation.
Early support can make a big difference in your child’s lifelong health and development
This correction of function through the lens of an osteopathic approach and perspective addresses the neurological root (the tongue! the extension of the brain!) of why the tongue is not functioning.
The root cause of disintegration of tongue function is often due to trauma.
Pregnancy and birth experiences often disrupt the neurointegration of the nervous system and is seen in improper tongue function and synchrony of primitive reflexes. Various other factors & traumas throughout a child’s life disintegrates the nervous system and results in open mouth posture, nasal breathing, emotional and attention dysregulation and more.
“Addressing the neurological trauma through traditional Osteopathic treatment provides vital strides in optimizing a child’s expression of Health & resilience. Treating the ROOT cause!”
After my daughter was born, it was then that I felt like i was a part of the living
—Dr. Sylvia Orozco Silberman DO
As a mother of daughters with two very different birth experiences, I can say with some wisdom that there is beauty and fluidity in the unpredictability of this transformational experience.
Birth is birth.
my 1st born was an unmedicated homebirth at The Farm in the rolling hills of Tennessee. My 2nd was a planned homebirth with a transfer for a C-section to Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.
What a Wild and transformational experience into motherhood.
Holding the space for ALL the beautiful medicine that is available to us.
Allowing autonomy & surrounding women with physicians who KNOW and understand their physiological magnificence.
“Touch is the most basic, the most nonconceptual form of communication that we have. In touch there are no language barriers; anything that can walk, fly, creep, crawl, or swim already speaks it.”
